AzTeC Free-Net Newsletter - November 2003
Greetings AzTeC Users!
Can it be possible we are finally out of those triple digit temperatures?
Can it be possible that we are also at the start of the holiday season ?!
Well, time moves on as does AzTeC. We've had a couple of glitches with our
host due to some power failures not of our making but we have survived. The
most recent one took down three out of four of our servers but our tech put
the tasks on to one server and we kept plugging along while power was restored.
As usual, no mail was lost. An earlier power failure this past month was fixed
by our tech while he was vacationing in Europe. A big Huzzah for this
accomplishment, especially when it involved working in the middle of the night
due to the time difference. Thanks Ivan!
A note to our users, when things happen like this, call the help line and also
check our web page (http://aztecfreenet.org) for updates if you have another
provider. We try very hard to get information up as soon as we know there is
something wrong.
The senior sig continues to attract new visitors and most of the other sigs are
also gaining ground too. Send a post to those that interest you or start one of
your own! Randy Wertz, Danny Sirmon and Ed Beighe are working on updating the
AzTeC manual and it will be online soon. Thanks to these three, users will be
able to download the manual or read it online in the near future. We could use
some volunteers to help plan a public meeting around February. We have a
possible site in Phoenix at Los Olivos (thanks to Bob Davis) so, all we need
are some people to help figure out the details. It's been a long time since we
have gathered together and February will mark the first year we have been on
our own! It's been quite a year.
Still looking for some publicity people, someone who can get out our story to
the public. Carol, where are you?! :) Anyone who can help please send a note
to the help desk (on Main Menu) or call the help line at 480-391-6565 and let
us know how you can help. Leave a phone number so we can call you.
Due to vacations and lack of help, some of the things we want to do have been
delayed. We hope this will change and that you understand it does take some
help from the AzTeC community to move forward.
Hope turkey time for you will be a time to spend with family and friends but if
you are alone, consider inviting someone new to share your day..a neighbor..
someone living alone...you get the idea. :) It's not a new idea, just one that
has infinite possibilities for a great holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving!
