AzTec Newsletter/May 2010

Nathalie Goss, founding member and long time President of the AzTeC Board of Directors,
died after a short illness on Saturday, March 27, 2010.

Nathalie worked tirelessly for AzteC within the community during the start-up period in
1994 when the internet was in its infancy. She and other volunteers would hold meetings
and workshops introducing the Freenet concept here in the Phoenix, Prescott, Flagstaff
and Tucson areas. These activities were so instrumental in spreading the use of internet
throughout the state and country. Nathalie continued her many contributions to the success
of AzTeC serving as President until 1998 and then again just prior to AzTeC's departure
from ASU in 2003 assuring the continuation of the service at the new host EMR Data.

Nathalie spearheaded the availability of AzTeC to Public Libraries. It was a first for AzTeC
and a first for the citizens of Arizona. She also was involved in the loaner computer program,
which went on for many years. which placed computers in many libraries in Maricopa County and
to many individuals in the community ... all free of charge. Nathalie was the moderator of the
popular SIG on Genealogy and the most popular General SIG. She gave her time generously to this
community... all as a volunteer. She will be missed.
