AzTeC Newsletter/March 2004
Top of the Morning to you, AzTeC Users ! :) The Feb. 21st party was a great success and it was particularly nice to see our old friends and greet some new ones. Many thanks to Martha, George, Randy, Bruce and the rest of the gang who helped out with the festivities. Thanks also to Bob Davis who provided many of the door prizes and of course, to Los Olivos Senior Center who made us so welcome. Here's a challenge to all our AzTeC users in the coming months. If you are out and about or talking with neighbors, let them know about AzTeC and suggest they give us a try.If each user would bring in just one new AzTeC person our ranks would grow quickly. Lots of new people move here every spring and it is a great opportunity to promote AzTeC. Let us know how you do. One of our own has already started spreading the word following the meeting. Barbara H. copied some of our online material and gave it to a few friends and that is a good start. Barbara is also working with a low income school and needs some software for K-8 kids. If you have some you can donate, please let me know. Thanks Barbara for getting the ball rolling on adding new members! Let's hope someone can help you out on that software for the children. Thanks are also in order for a good start on donations. We really appreciate your generosity. For those who have already contributed we thank you and ask that others help with our ongoing needs. As mentioned before, as little as 83-84 cents a month or $10.00 a year from as many as can afford it, would help us immensely. The address for donations is listed below. We are also considering future public meetings in different areas of the valley to encourage as many as possible to be able to attend at least one meeting. If you have a suggestion on this, please send me a note. On another note, we now have some openings on the board and we encourage you to apply. Just send us a note telling us a little about yourself. Our board does require participation and commitment in terms of attending meetings held every two months and a few hours a month in participating in various activities Those hours might be spent on the help line or helping develop a publicity plan, fixing up computers for those who cannot afford one of their own or answering users questions etc. The time is flexible and so are the needs. We also would encourage you to sign up as a volunteer as there are many areas that need some people to help out. Our volunteer staff is doing double duty at the present time and your help would be much appreciated. In any case we must increase the number of volunteers to sustain AzTeC. Darrel, who runs the senior sig is already trying to place some promotional material in a newspaper on the west side. Thanks Darrel for your efforts. Free-Nets only work when the community joins in to keep things working well. Please consider volunteering whatever time you have available. Finally, I ran across this verse on the Internet and thought it appropriate for this day. An Old Irish Blessing May love and laughter light your days, and warm your heart and home. May good and faithful friends be yours, wherever you may roam. May peace and plenty bless your world with joy that long endures. May all life's passing seasons bring the best to you and yours! Sincerely, Nathalie Nathalie Goss President, AzTeC Board of Directors Donations can be made out to AzTeC and sent to the address below. AzTeC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization AzTeC P.O.
